Police in Pune caught some people making and selling illegal alcohol. They found more than 2,500 liters of this bad alcohol, worth about ₹15.2 lakhs, during a big operation in Hadapsar on Tuesday. Six people were arrested for being part of this illegal business.
The Wanawadi Police, led by Senior Inspector Deepak Lagad, acted on tips they received about people making alcohol in old buildings. When they raided the places, they found machines for making alcohol, fake labels, and packing materials that looked like popular brands.
The police learned that this illegal operation had been going on for about eight months. They were making around 3,000 liters of bad alcohol every month. The people making it used unsafe materials like industrial-grade ethanol, fake flavors, and dirty water. This is very dangerous for anyone who drinks this alcohol.
The police arrested the main people responsible: Rajesh Kumar (42) and Sanjay Patil (38), along with four others. They’re now facing serious charges because they sold dangerous drinks and put people’s lives at risk. They could go to jail for three to seven years.
This is the biggest amount of illegal alcohol that has been seized in Pune this year. The police had previously caught 1,800 liters in March.
Now, they’ve made a special team to check if these people are connected to a larger network selling illegal alcohol in other areas of Maharashtra.
