mmr and pune dominate sales

MMR and Pune Account for 51% of Total Sales of 93,280 Housing Units Across Top 7 Cities

In the first part of 2025, the housing market in India's biggest cities got weaker, but the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune still sold a lot of homes. Together, they sold 51% of all homes in these cities, which adds up to 47,710 homes.

Both MMR and Pune saw fewer homes sold compared to last year. MMR sold about 31,610 homes, which is 26% less than in the first part of 2024. Pune did even worse, selling around 16,100 homes, which is a big drop of 30% from last year. This shows that both of these important places are facing some tough times in selling houses.

In total, the seven biggest cities in India sold 93,280 homes in the first part of 2025. Even though all these cities had a 28% drop in sales, MMR and Pune still matter a lot in the housing market. MMR sold about 34% of all homes, while Pune sold around 17%.

Even though both areas sold fewer homes than before, they still show they're strong in the housing market. The way MMR and Pune are doing gives us clues about what's happening in the housing market in India right now. It shows that while there are some problems, these places still have a lot of importance in selling homes.
