The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) took strong action against 20 ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants because they weren't following pollution rules.
After checking these plants on March 11, they found many problems. Because of this, they shut down 18 plants and gave warnings to 4 others.
The investigation showed that these plants were making a lot of dust when mixing concrete and didn't have the proper systems to control air pollution. They weren't following important environmental rules. This made the MPCB step in quickly to fix the problems.
The officials saw that the plants weren't storing materials like cement and fly ash correctly. This caused more dust in the air around these plants. They also found that some plants were letting dirty water go into the environment, which could harm local animals and plants.
Many people living nearby complained about the dust that was bothering their daily lives. This made the MPCB take action to make sure industries follow the rules.
The MPCB said they'll not allow any company to ignore air pollution rules. They'll keep checking these plants to make sure they're doing the right thing.
This action shows that the MPCB wants to protect people's health and the environment. They want to make sure all companies follow the rules to keep the air clean and safe.
