When villages join together to make bigger towns, the way they collect money from property taxes changes a lot. In the new towns near big cities, property taxes have gone up by about 23%. This means they're getting ₹452 crore (that's a lot of money!) even though the roads and other services in the villages still need a lot of work.
Out of all the property owners, 73% have paid their new taxes. But 27% are unhappy and have complained because they think the towns aren't giving them good services.
The new towns are made from 42 smaller villages and are divided into three areas: north, central, and south. The north area has paid ₹187 crore, the central area has paid ₹156 crore, and the south area has paid ₹109 crore. This shows that some areas have more valuable properties than others.
Also, businesses pay 38% of the total taxes, while homes pay 62%. But even though they've collected a lot of money, only 35% of the towns have had new roads and services built. The town's records say that 64% of the money is still sitting there because the projects are taking a long time to start.
To help people pay their taxes, the town has made a website where they can pay online. This has helped them collect 45% more taxes through the internet compared to before. But there's still a lot of work to do to fix the buildings and roads.
