The humidity, which is how much moisture is in the air, has also dropped from 65% to 42%. This means the air feels drier. The weather department says that these high temperatures will continue for at least another week. There are few clouds in the sky, so the sun feels very strong.
In some areas of Pune, like Shivajinagar and Lohegaon, temperatures have reached 39.5°C (103.1°F). This is the hottest March has been there since 2019. Because of the heat, people will use more electricity to stay cool, which might put a strain on the city's power supply.
The local government is making sure there's enough water for everyone since the demand for water has gone up by 22% compared to last week. They've also set up cooling centers in crowded places to help people cool down.
Scientists say that this heat can happen more often because of changes in the climate and how cities grow.
