villagers organize hunger strike

Villagers Plan Hunger Strike

People in a village called Pargaon Memane are very upset about a new airport that might be built near them. About 100 landowners from the village have decided to start a hunger strike, which means they’ll not eat, starting on April 9, 2025. This is the same day when a survey using drones will check the land for the airport.

The villagers are worried because the airport will take away their land, which they use for farming and to support their families. They plan to protest outside the tehsildar’s office, and some people will also protest from their homes. This protest isn’t just from one village; people from seven other villages are joining in because they all care about their land.

The villagers have some important requests. They want to get fair money for their land, a place to live in Purandar after losing their land, and they want to check if the survey done to take the land is correct. They promise to protest peacefully, even though some older people, women, and children will be part of it.

The hunger strike is happening at the same time as the drone survey, which shows how serious the villagers are about stopping the airport. They want to make sure everyone understands that their land is important for their lives and culture. The villagers are standing together to protect what they have.
